Second Limited Edition Calendar draws inspiration from the Mayan World

An evening of futuristic glamour, set against the backdrop of 'A New Beginning' the 2012 Splash Limited Edition Calendar was presented to a select gathering of media and VIPs from the region. Drawing influences from Mayan predictions and imbibing B-movie sci-fi traits the second edition of the Splash Calendar was unveiled by Micky & Renuka Jagtiani, Chairman & Vice-Chairman, Landmark Group along with Raza Beig, CEO, Splash & ICONIC at his residence, where DJ Paul Hamilton got people grooving into wee hours of the night.

Touted at being the World's very first 13 image calendar, it explores the prophecy when the World will come to an end on December 21, 2012. The Splash Calendar ends on this date only to start again on December 22, 2012 of what we term as 'A New Beginning'. Renowned fashion photographer Tejal Patni returns as the brainchild behind this thought-provoking and unique concept for the Splash Calendar and explores not the end but what 'end' actually means.

Talking about 'A New Beginning', Raza Beig, CEO Splash & ICONIC, said, "the year 2012 is a brand new canvas and we aim to paint it bright with our achievements. The calendar is our first step and a reflection of how every end has a new beginning. An artist's vision of the New World, the calendar is injected with bold color set against stark metal standing tall on hope amidst the impending future.

Bound to tickle the creative urge, this fascinating combination of art, vision and fashion has sets created in studios by a team of technicians specially flown in, and every prop used made from various recycled items, including the custom-made outfits worn by the model. "

An art connoisseurs' piece, the 2012 Splash Limited Edition Calendar portrays the model in 13 different avatars of new world glamour and where each shot embodies unprecedented creativity and optimism.

"The concept of '2012 - A New Beginning' moves forward and ties in the brand's business plans for the year. Splash will soon announce the re-branding of all in-house labels to one brand name i.e. SPLASH, ensuring every customer's fashion need is addressed within the Splash label. This new beginning will also extend to newer store formats and launch of Splash in a number of new countries," further added Raza Beig.

"I combined my thoughts and the vision of Splash for 2012 to explore a crucial place in the history of civilization and what has been predicted to be a dramatic turn of events in 2012. The concept brings alive a world of ultramodern glamour in its 13 images and is set against the backdrop of bare metal and warm colours," added Tejal Patni.

A numbered 500 piece limited edition calendar; it will be gifted to the region's movers and shakers which include media, opinion makers, partners and VIPs. Also with a vision to make the calendar a part of every consumer's living space, the calendar will be available in a desktop version, across all Splash Stores in the region from January 1, 2012 at a minimum purchase of AED 100.
