A little rock, a little roll and a whole lot of fashion

While the international catwalks took its cues from a juxtaposition of heritage to minimalism and from retro-inspired to luxe grunge, Splash weaved them together in a world of fashion inspired by music. In the ninth edition of the Splash fashion show, the brand channeled the diversity of styles that Rock 'n' Roll influence has brought to high-street fashion. UAE's finest attended Splash fashion's big night out where 45 international models presented a perfect mix of the season's trends interwoven with the element of rock 'N' roll to over 3000 fashion lovers. Set in the elegant Madinat Arena, Madinat Jumeirah, the Splash Rock 'N' fashion show reflected a belief that the roots of rock music are always in evidence to cutting edge fashion.

Just as Rock 'n' Roll has proved that it is here to stay in its many forms, it evolves and changes like fashion and has become a part of fashion itself. From Elvis Presley's Blue Suede Shoes to the Beatles hair styles and Nehru Jackets to the Tattoo inspired fashion designs all have influenced fashion trends in our society. The Splash Rock'n fashion show takes its cues from the legends and walks on the wild side of fashion even if vicariously, attracting the bad boy and naughty girl who are just a little wicked but have their own sense of style.

Inspired by the season's trends and the recently concluded catwalk extravaganza, Raza Beig, CEO, Splash said, "Music and fashion have been inextricably linked since both are acknowledged as art forms across the globe. With our Rock'n fashion show we chose to marry one of the most scintillating forms of music Rock N Roll with high street fashion and presented the ruling catwalk trends in true high-street style to the region's fashion enthusiasts."

This Autumn Winter, Splash has opened a new brand chapter by launching Fashion 365, a campaign whose concept evolves from design to fashion and where every piece of the collection exudes a unique element of fashion thereby creating an inimitable style statement", he further added.

Continuing with the lineup of the two consumer shows, fashion followers and loyal customers got a taste of the season's highly anticipated electric runway action which was then followed by the VIP show, where Raza Beig, CEO, Splash along with Aarti, Nisha and Rahul Jagtiani walked the ramp for the finale of Splash Rock 'N' fashion show.

With the overall setup of a backstage area, the catwalk resembled behind the scenes of a concert and the region's crème de la crème witnessed a theatrical depiction of backstage drama unfold. The Splash Rock'n fashion show also introduced a theatrical "scrim" that acted as a projection surface while being transparent at the same time showing glimpses of behind the scenes of the show to the audiences. The show which started backstage was followed by the much sought after, After Party in the rock concert arena with The Fridge, a popular Columbian rock band belting out the most popular numbers in the history of Rock 'N' Roll.

The 20 minute power-packed show saw three prominent themes on the catwalk which summed up the season's key looks and trends, namely 'School of Rock', 'Rock n Soul' and 'Rock Royalty'.

Exploring the freedom of being young and creating an identity was the 'School of Rock'collection which offered silhouettes in preppy overtones, pop brights, bold multi-colored effects and metallic colour mixes. Slim, cropped trousers with fitted sweaters and flat-knit turtlenecks in a riot of colours were key while simple coats, shift dresses with dropped waistlines, neat shell tops, tunics and tabards with Peter Pan collars were catwalk standouts.
Splash AW11 fashion show2.jpgNext in line was 'Rock n Soul' the perfect combination of high luxury and absolute subtlety, with modern silhouettes in hyper-bright hues.This trend was a journey through the realm of oneself and fashion, best used to achieve an uncomplicated look driven by clean lines, minimal detailing, and an uncomplicated palette of black and white. Since we all want that vintage vibe in our wardrobe the Splash catwalk picked the sleekest, sexiest, and most stylish looks and presented the 70's boho-chic look.The androgynous elements of tailoring mixed with slim silhouettes and oversized tops and sweaters were also showcased on the catwalk.

'Rock Royalty' was the manifesto of an achievement being all about glossy satins, lace, sumptuous knits, fur, exotic skins, feathers and gold embellishments are back into the wardrobe with black being the predominant colour. Inspired by the Elizabethan, Baroque, Rococo and Edwardian eras this was the launch of the Splash designer collection with individually designed pieces. The trends combined masculine tailoring with feminine ruffles for a look of decorous glamour and this emerged as a clear winner for occasion wear.
