Child Safety Camps to be Held at Select Schools in UAE

Babyshop, the region's leading children's retail concept and a one-stop shop for children's products, today announced the launch of the seventh edition of its annual 'Child Safety Campaign'.

To be launched on 24 March across Babyshop's network of 122 retail outlets, the campaign will aim to create greater awareness about child safety. The 'Child Safety First Campaign' is endorsed by the Road and Transports Authority (RTA) since its inception.

This year the campaign will have various components including an extensive drive to create awareness on child safety products and safety camps across select schools in UAE to educate children about safety measures.

In November 2010, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) officials said that traffic accidents were the leading cause of infant mortality in the UAE and account for 63 per cent of all child deaths, which is higher than the global percentage of 22.3 per cent. Household accidents, caused due to negligence, are another leading cause of infant mortality in the region.
