Child Safety Camps to be Held at Select Schools in UAE

Babyshop, the region's leading children's retail concept and a one-stop shop for children's products, today announced the launch of the seventh edition of its annual 'Child Safety Campaign'.

To be launched on 24 March across Babyshop's network of 122 retail outlets, the campaign will aim to create greater awareness about child safety. The 'Child Safety First Campaign' is endorsed by the Road and Transports Authority (RTA) since its inception.

This year the campaign will have various components including an extensive drive to create awareness on child safety products and safety camps across select schools in UAE to educate children about safety measures.

In November 2010, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) officials said that traffic accidents were the leading cause of infant mortality in the UAE and account for 63 per cent of all child deaths, which is higher than the global percentage of 22.3 per cent. Household accidents, caused due to negligence, are another leading cause of infant mortality in the region.

Rahul Saxena, Head of Marketing, Babyshop, said: "We have consistently demonstrated our commitment to child safety since we first launched the campaign in 2005. The campaign endeavours to partner with parents and support them to proactively provide their children a safe environment, in every sphere of their lifestyle.

"Our team of buyers has studied the touch-points in the life of children, and identified potential high-risk situations that can be averted through precautions. They have built a comprehensive product portfolio based on this study, to fill gaps wherever they exist - at home, in the car or outdoors."

Adopting the holistic view to child-safety has enabled Babyshop to become a one-stop destination where parents may find a wide array of child safety products at affordable prices.

The region's leading children's retail concept will also be conducting road shows across schools in UAE to educate children about safety. The initiative has already taken off with workshops at the Rashid School for Boys and Latifa School for Girls in Dubai while the Government School in Nad Al Hammar is the next venue for the event. Schools wishing to host the workshops can reach Babyshop on 050-3785208.

Babyshop has the largest number of brands of car seats under one roof including Graco, Maxi Cosi, and Ferrari, while Safety First and First Years are brands which have an array of additional products.

Babyshop is a leader in the niche segment with every category of product available suitable to cater to the needs of children. The company complies with the highest quality standards to ensure all its products are child-safe.
