His Highness Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum officiates inauguration
Auditorium to provide gymnasium facilities, drama and arts therapy for children with special needs
Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre (RPTC) has opened its state-of-the-art facility for children with special needs in the UAE. The facility was officially inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, acting Chairman of RPTC along with Micky Jagtiani, Chairman, Landmark Group and Abou Ali Malik Shroff, Managing Director and Chairman Sheffield Real Estate.
The newly built Motion & Drama Studio was developed with a vision to enhance the quality of services and therapies provided to children with special needs. It will provide drama, and arts therapy to help special needs children integrate more easily into the larger society.
"Every margin of support to children with special needs provides an opportunity to empower them in actively participating and contributing to the development of our society. This new facility at Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre will no doubt help empower thousands of children, giving them hope for a meaningful future," said HH Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum.
"We are indeed very grateful to Micky Jagtiani and the management and staff of Landmark Group for their generosity and support in helping to fund the construction of this facility. "As a gesture of our appreciation to Landmark Group, we have named the facility 'Landmark Auditorium' trusting that it will be a landmark symbol of hope for thousands of children with special needs whose lives will be touched," added Sheikh Juma.
In 2007 Landmark Group organised a charity concert - 'Lahan Al Hayat...Lyrics for Life', at the Centrepoint Theatre in Mall of the Emirates, to raise awareness and funds towards constructing the auditorium. In addition Sheffield Real Estate sponsored some equipment for studio.
Micky Jagtiani, Chairman, Landmark Group said: "Landmark Group is highly honoured to be associated with this noble project and we wish to use this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to social and charitable causes that change lives in our community."
RPTC was established in 1994 to help children with disabilities develop maximum levels of independence, while they learn and function within their home, school and the society. "Our aim is to deliver services that set high standards and expectations for children with special needs residing in the UAE; we also work to drive awareness and understanding of disability issues across the Gulf," said Mariam Othman, Director, Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre.
"Drama and entertainment are important features for enabling both mental and physical development of children, and the Landmark Motion Drama Studio is indeed a dream come true for UAE's children with special needs," concluded Othman.
