It’s truly entrepreneurial. It sees an opportunity and has the courage to pursue and support the idea. The growth of its own brands such as Splash and Home Centre is testimony to this.
Q.
What were you doing before joining Landmark?
I've been in the Middle East for 15 years working for a number of large local retail companies and running fashion franchises from the UK, US and Europe.
The brands I've managed include Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, Juicy Couture, Jane Norman, Top Shop, Evans and a number of others.
I've also managed a large, privately owned home-furnishing business and a number of furniture franchises.
Before I came to the Middle East, I was a regional director in the UK for Arcadia. I started my career with Debenhams.
Q.
Why did you join Landmark?
I felt that the Landmark Group mirrored my values. I admired its entrepreneurial spirit and I wanted to be a part of its success. I was also very impressed by the senior-management team and I felt I would enjoy the culture of the organisation.
Q.
What does your current job involve?
I'm the General Manager of the International Fashion Franchise part of the business and I'm responsible for the profitability and growth of the division. We have over 100 stores in six countries and our brands include New Look, Koton, Reiss and Lispy.
Q.
What has been your best moment at Landmark so far?
I've enjoyed many moments, but I think that seeing our division deliver a healthy profit and being able to reward the teams for all their hard work has to be the best. We won a Grazia award last year, which was voted for by our customers. Also, New Look voted Landmark their partner of the year. On top of this we flew out Kelly Brook -- the UK actress and model -- to host our New Look fifth anniversary party, so we have had a great year!
Q.
What is unique about Landmark as an organization?
I know this is a cliché but it's true -- Landmark recognises and rewards talent. The only boundaries for development and growth are those you set. It's truly entrepreneurial. It sees an opportunity and has the courage to pursue and support the idea. The growth of its own brands such as Splash, Babyshop, Max and Home Centre is testimony to this.
Q.
Any suggestions for people interested in joining Landmark?
I can honestly say that the Landmark Group acts with integrity, respects its people, rewards ability and has a customer-first mentality. It expects commitment, loyalty, drive, hard work and for its people to think for themselves and take ownership. If these traits appeal to you, the Landmark Group can offer you an exciting and rewarding career.
